Preston A. Wells, Jr.

Preston "Dick" Wells was a true hero. Serving as a Marine in World War II, he fought valiantly at Iwo Jima. As Manager of Engineering and Production for Quaker Oats and co-founder of the Las Olas Company of Palm Beach, Florida, he was an exemplary businessman, whose prosperity never surpassed his virtue.

As a friend of the conservative movement, Dick Wells served as a trustee of the Heritage Foundation. In 1996, he became an ISI Trustee, and in 2002 Chairman of the ISI Board. He was an enthusiastic supporter of ISI’s many programs for the young, and was a pioneer in helping to establish ISI’s Honors Program. In his memory, ISI has named Preston "Dick" Wells a permanent honorary trustee.
